Breathe easier with dracenas

‘Dracaena fragrans’

Did you know that dracenas are one of the best houseplants for removing toxins from indoor air? A NASA clean air study concluded that: “Both plant leaves and roots are utilized in removing trace levels of toxic vapors from inside tightly sealed buildings. Low levels of chemicals such as carbon monoxide and formaldehyde can be removed from indoor environments by plant leaves alone.”

Members of the asparagus family, dracenas are also related to lily-of-the-valley and are one of the easiest houseplants to grow. They do best in brightly filtered light, avoid direct sun, and be careful not to over water them. NOTE: dracenas are toxic to cats and dogs, so choose one of these eleven plants that are safe for pets instead.
